Le Clos des Mouches is one of Beaune`s most prestigious premier cru sites. planted to both Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Several wine producers and négociants own parcels here including Maison Champy, the oldest wine company in Burgundy. This is a rare bottle from the 1985 vintage, which was marked by a small crop but concentrated wines.

Maison Champy runs a large part of its 21 ha of vines on the Côte de Beaune – especially in Pernand-Vergelesses – organically in order to preserve and highlight the true character of this exceptional terroir. Precision wine growing is Maison Champy’s objective. The importance of the environment means that every single treatment follows the practices of sustainable and organic farming.The winery, which has been declared a historic monument by UNESCO, was designed by the famed architect, Gustave Eiffel and sits above an ancient 15th-century Jacobin monk cellar, where the wines are aged in the heart of Beaune.
