A limited edition rice Whisky aged in refill Whisky and Red Wine casks with an elegant and smooth profile.

Fukano Distillery has been operated in Hitoyoshi City since 1823 by five generations of the Fukano family. The current head of the business is Shigeruriku Fukano. Their primary product is Shōchū — an un-aged, lightly distilled Spirit usually around 25% ABV. It’s exceptionally popular in Japan and has been produced there since the 16th century. Interestingly, since most of their products are based upon rice, sweet potatoes, and sugar — ingredients low in sulphur — their stills are made of stainless steel.

Like all Fukano Spirits, The Fukano Whisky 2020 Edition is made from local rice. When un-aged, it’s called Shochu. And Shochu is even more sensitive to the influences of wood than barley or corn. Each edition of Fukano Whisky is strictly limited and each one sells out quickly due to high demand. The 2020 edition was matured in a combination of refill and ex-Red Wine casks — a delectable combination, yielding a subtle palate with notes of rose petals and almond cookies.
